If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take 7 quilting essentials, what would you take??
Include links to the items (if you can) in case I want to have a look :) lets hear your 7! |
That's a hard question.
I'll have to think about it but one item I know I would take are these new 45mm rotary blades I discovered called Improved Blade. (Link) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...=sr_1_5&sr=8-5 When two of my friends told me how sharp they were, and how long they last, I didn't believe them - until I tried the blades. So that's one quilting essential I'd take! |
Sorry not Improved Blade, Improved Cut.

Pack of needles, thread, bottle of wine, crackers, cheese, bolt of fabric and scissors.
I want to sew with you tessagin! Love your ideas and how about a treadle machine, no electric on the island!
Treadle machine, sewing machine oil, rotary cutter and blades, scissor, mat, fabric and thread. That's 8! And I didn't out spare needles. I guess I could leave the machine and oil and do hand sewing.
Satellite phone and extra batteries. I want to call someone to come get me. Sewing is the last thing on my mind, but the wine and cheese and crackers will help until someone gets here.
7 items besides food, water, and shelter? I would take my bag for my eternal project of grandmother's garden quilt! this paper pieced project will take forever to finish!
Handcrank machine, needles/pins of all kinds, rotary cutter with extra blades and mat, scissors, lots of thread, fabric, a sewing buddy.
If you mean deserted island . . .as in no electricity . . .treadle machine, fabric stash, thread collection, bulk box of machine needles, roll of batting, rotary mat set and an antique iron I could heat over the fire.
If you really did mean desert island . . .I'd chuck the iron in favor of a fan rigged to my treadle to keep me cool enough to work. |
