Has anyone ever used Ikea fabric for quilts or backing? I just read that their fabric is made from renewable material (mostly 100% cotton) and there are no optical brighteners used so it's environmentally friendly and some of it is kind of cute! Found the photo online and it is at my local Ikea. Not *too* bad price wise it's 59" and $7.99 a yard for this piece but I bet when I go I'll find lot's on sale or cheaper.

There have been several threads about Ikea fabric. I think I may have started one. They've got some great, graphic prints- all 100% cotton but most are heavy, home dec. type fabrics. They have some light weight cotton-but see through mainly for curtains and such. They usually have a few sale, $2.99 yd. fabric that would make great bags etc.

I've used the fabric for aprons...It is a bit heavier than quilting fabric...It would make great purses!

I bought several of the pre-packaged fabrics to use for backings. I haven't even taken them out of their label yet, so I don't know how they'll do. They are really neat and unique patterns though!

some of the fabric is ok for quilting. I bought some checked fabric one time to use in my hand quilting classes. It worked great. You have to feel the fabric to know. I would not take a chance of ordering it without having seen and felt it.

Thank you everyone for your insight & information :-) I am going to have to give some a try.

Let me know when you do!
