I'm a believer...

I just ordered my first online purchase of fabric from Hancock's of Paducah. I didn't read the instructions to save on the free shipping. I wrote them about the free shipping and they sent me back the e-mail directions I should have used to obtain it. Well, I was upset with myself and half mad at Hancock's. But just figured I'll know better next time and read the fine print- although it wasn't really fine print it was large. So when I checked my bank account there was the order price with the shipping charges NOT added on. The customer service folks gave me the free shipping. How nice. They have made me a believer. Great customer service and a repeat customer made at the same time.
Have you experienced something similar? From Hancock's or other on-line shops?

Wow, that's great customer service. Thanks for the recommendation.

I love shopping Hancocks of Paducah on line. Especially their web sales, really great prices on the sale pages. I placed an order large enough to get free shipping and two items were backordered. They didn't charge my card until they shipped the items and they didn't charge any shipping on the backordered items that shipped seperately. They are a great place to do business with and quality fabrics too!

The employees are conscientious and not just get the job done so I can go home type. I love shopping there during the Paducah quilt show.

I ordered twice from them in the past few weeks. I am very impressed with their good service and the orders came very quickly. I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.

Nothing but praise for all of my orders from them. Four separate transactions this month and they have always arrived on time or early. Definitely a repeat customer!

tezell0801 12-22-2012 02:41 PM

I placed an order there Tuesday evening, can not believe I got it Thursday about noon. I forgot to enter my promo code too, but no big deal, my fault. I will definitely order from them again. Super fast service!

I agree the free shipping is kind of misleading. I had the same thing happen to me I should have called them. I do love to shop there. Great Quailty Fabric! Love the Robert Kauffman line I got some on the web sale.

topstitch 12-22-2012 03:24 PM

they have always been great tp deal with

craftychick 12-22-2012 03:37 PM

I had that happen with Joanns. At the end of the order it wouldn't accept the free shipping code number so I paid for the order and emailed Joanns right away and they reimbursed the shipping charges.

I have been shopping at Hancock's of Paducah for years now and have NEVER been disappointed by their customer service! This is a quality company. Occasionally they will run out of something that their website says they have, but you don't get charged for it - you just get the (minor) disappointment of it not showing up as part of their yellow-plastic-bag shipped order! (My heart jumps a little when I see a yellow plastic wrapped package in my mail box.) And their fabric is always high quality, in my experience.

I 'm glad you have had good experiences...
I have had mixed experiences with them. They aren't my "go to " online source. Too many times I have items "backordered" only to never recieve them. I could handle it if the fabrics that never arrived weren't the one I was designing around.. and now I have a "grouping" with no main fabric.. Very frustrating.

MartiMorga 12-23-2012 08:35 AM

My favorite fabric store. Even my husband likes going in there and looking for the "right" piece - he won't help anywhere else. We can spend hours in there. Thankful it is only 65 miles away!!!

dash2000lbs 12-23-2012 09:05 AM

I have never bought from them but will in the future ...

I love shopping Handcocks until their clearance fabric ran out when it was time for them to fulfill my order. Wasn't too happy about that. But they do have a nice big selection of fabrics. I LOVE ordering from equilter even more.

caspharm 12-23-2012 03:46 PM

I like them. I always understand that clearance fabric may run out, but they do have some great deals.

maxnme01 12-23-2012 04:41 PM

Hancocks is GREAT! so is www.equilter.com

I ordered from connecting threads, Joanns and Handcock and last from Marshall dry goods. They sent me wrong pannel and I called the company, talked to owner and 4 days later right pannel came in the mail with no request to return the other one. Just ordered from them again.

I love Hancocks Been shopping with them for 10 years They always cut a generous amount and their service is beyond kind.

hcarpanini 12-23-2012 08:32 PM

They are a quality shop!

Not a fabric store but I last week I ordered from Victoria Secret. I searched and searched on line for a coupon. I couldn't find one. I did find free shipping. I placed my order and logged off. I logged on to the Quilting BOard and there on the side of the page was a 20% off coupon. I called them and not only did they give me the 20% off but they added rush shipping for free. I ordered it Tuesday night and it arrived Friday morning. Great customer service. I have found that most online places have good customer service now since they do so much of their business from there.

leighway 12-24-2012 05:35 AM

Hancocks-Paducah is my go to fabric source followed by Fabric.com. Each has excellent service and selection. One note of caution about Hancock's website--the search function isn't as robust as it should be. Often, I'll search for the name of a fabric and it will return a message. Not Found. Then I'll search by manufacturer and there it is. So, don't stop if they come back with Not found.

They are wonderful! I was there in April when I went to the Paduach Quilt show and they literally waited on me hand and foot, and even had a couple ladies walk me around the store even to the ladies room but than again that might have had to do with the fact that I literally bought a boat load of fabric that day. They said that was the one largest single sale ever made there by an individal that day. Anyway I digress! Yes they do give wonderful customer service no matter what. It was so busy that week there and all the workers were there assisting crowd of customers and even helping them get there purchases out the door. They had as many if not more employees on the floor tending to customers as they had at the registers and they have a ton of registers. HANDS DOWN Paduach rocks!

Marysewfun 12-24-2012 12:02 PM

I have had the same happen with Amazon - - it is sometimes confusing when they advertise "eligible for free shipping" - - but you have to check the box in the checkout to get it. A couple of times when I missed doing that, I contacted them and they adjusted my order by removing shipping charge and were very good about it.

I also think Hancocks of Paducah is a great shop to order from. A couple of years ago I placed a group order with my quilt buddies and got the free shipping. However, there was one batting missing. I called early the next morning to inquire about it but since it wasn't even on the invoice, I figured it was my fault or the order takers fault but did not know which. I explained that to the nice man on the phone (turns out he was one of the owners of the shop!!!) and he said they would send the missing batt out right away with no charge for shipping. You just cannot get any better customer service than that.

mudose8 12-24-2012 01:15 PM

I also ordered from Hancock's. Checked out, but didn't see where to enter free shipping code. Sent an e-mail, with code, and they credited my account for free shipping! Always good service from them.

joyce888 12-24-2012 01:25 PM

They are one of my favorite on-line stores. I've always been very pleased and received great service.

nstitches4u 12-24-2012 10:01 PM

I have visited Hancock's of Paducah. I love their large fabric selection. The only problem is I never seem to have enough time to shop because we are always on the way to a convention. Some day I want to be able to go there and shop until I am through shopping. I haven't ordered from them online, but after all these recommendations, I will do so.

JenelTX 12-25-2012 01:43 PM

Just this week, I got great service from Sharp Sewing Supplies, an eBay seller. I'd ordered needles and bobbins. They called me on the phone to let me know they were on back order for two days, so they were going to upgrade my shipping! Very unexpected, for them to be so proactive.
