Well, I'm basically shy and get crowd anxiety. Then I've heard lots of horror stories about the quilt police at quilds. Then recently there was a quilt show in town. It was fantastic and I talked to lots of ladies there. It turns out that they seem pretty great and I've committed to join. I even know 2 of the members pretty well from my church.

So I got the opening social fabric sheet and I"m going to be there. I had to change my work schedule around so I wouldn't be working the whole night before the meeting which would make it less fun.

Here is the fabric I've chosen and the pattern we are going to do. Wish me luck on stepping out of my comfort zone!

ccbear - THANX. I just didn't notice it wasn't a jpg. Here's another sample from the quilt show, although I didn't care for just pinks.

I guess there is just one block, over and over.

It's a stunning pattern.

Those are pretty, and good for you! Hopefully the guild will be full of women like you find here! :D

mamatobugboo 09-02-2008 12:08 PM

i've htought about joining a quild, but don't want to take time away on the weekends, so need to find one that meets during the week.

That pattern is quite nice - you will enjoy it!

mary quite contrary 09-02-2008 12:11 PM

I doubt they could possible be as nice as the people I have met here but I'm sure they are going to be very nice. :)

You will enjoy it. I love that pattern.

zyxquilts 09-02-2008 01:06 PM

Congrats Sara! It's great that you already know some ladies, and they can introduce you to some more. :D
I've done the Weaver Fever quilt (well, it's STILL a top  ). It isn't too complicated, but be sure you keep your sections in order!

I like my quilt guild. They are all very nice. I even met a lady there that does longarm quilting for the public. She did my dh's Texas Tech quilt.

I made a quilt using that pattern in blues and yellows. It turned out very pretty. My dil's mom loved it. I think the colors you chose will be beautiful.

I'm going to put a pic of Carol's quilt.

Here's my weaver fever.

I've been in several guilds, and all of them were absolutely delightful.

Moonpi 09-02-2008 01:46 PM

That is some pretty pattern! Good luck with your guild, and try not to take the quilt police seriously.

Boston1954 09-02-2008 02:00 PM

You should have a great time. Quilters are most friendly people. If the quilting police do show up, just tell them you are not in their jurisdiction. LOL.

I love the one with the blues. I can't wait to see yours when it is done.

I have the Weaver Fever pattern, but have not attempted it yet. It is beautiful and your fabrics are very nice.

Chele 09-02-2008 04:35 PM

I know you are going to have a blast. Quilters are the best people. Laugh, interact, and learn. What a great resource for tips, etc. You're going to love it!

Dodie 09-02-2008 06:15 PM

I'm sure you will enjoy the guild and if it is anything like the one I go to you will have a great opportunity for learning as we do several classes through the year and have a great book library and also lots of other activities relax and enjoy

jacquemoe 09-02-2008 06:21 PM

GOOD FOR YOU!! I've been wanting to join a quilt guild for years but now I'm too busy. I need to learn a lot more about QUILTS.

Quilt4u 09-03-2008 02:03 AM

Beautiful. And you are going to enjoy your new guild. Have fun.

Alaskan lady 09-03-2008 02:40 AM

I've made this quilt in reds, blues and beige and another in greens. browns and burgundy. It's a great pattern. enjoy the class!

gcathie 09-03-2008 03:04 AM

Sounds like it will be fun...I joined but only went once...was the wrong time for me and I kept forgetting when it was....and I didn't know anyone...I felt out of place....but had a good time.....they only met once a month....I get the local newsletter from our Fabric store and they always have interesting classes one can join...I do that from time to time....Maybe I'll try again...

Quilting Aggi 09-03-2008 03:57 AM

Congratulations on joining a guild. I havent' joined one myself as I am just too busy myself between teaching quilting twice a week, working on my own designs to get ready to sell this coming Christmas season, and I am thinking of taking up guitar lessons this Fall. Something I have never considered doing before until this summer. Trevor is also encouraging me to try it out. He has a guitar, I just need to replace the strings. I want to try something completely new and different.

ooh btw, is there a pattern somewhere online for the weaver fever pattern? I love that quilt!! It's beautiful!!!

Marcia 09-03-2008 05:00 AM

Sara-Let us know how the guild is. Hope you like it!!

The weaver fever quilt is really neat. I think your fabrics will be beautiful.

BJ-your quilt is really pretty!! I LOVE blue and yellow.

thimblebug6000 09-03-2008 06:54 AM

I belong to a guild & have since I started quilting in 1993. When I enjoy my time there the most, is when I commit to a position or a project, like it sounds you are doing with the Weaver Fever. Enjoy this new experience!

sewnsewer2 09-03-2008 07:21 AM

Very pretty quilts. That's a really nice pattern and I love the browns and blues you chose.

bj, I like yours in the colors you chose too!

grammy 09-03-2008 05:58 PM

Good luck! I belong to a local guild and I enjoy the meetings. Most of the ladies are very friendly. You get to see other quilts and get ideas as well as the presentations.

kd124 09-07-2008 09:04 PM

Hope you enjoy your guild. I really enjoy mine.

4dogs 08-19-2010 07:53 PM

ls there a free pattern somewhere on line, for this ? it is TOO PRETTY..every one of those photos just made me wanta do it!!!

Numa 08-20-2010 06:17 AM

I love my quilt guild. Some absolutely wonderful women that I would never have had the chance to know if I hadn't joined.

Butterflyblue 08-20-2010 06:21 AM

I haven't joined the guild that's close by, and probably won't since with my kids and the writer's group I already attend, plus church activities, I don't really have time, but going to the quilt show was what really made me wish I could join.

I like the colors you chose. Blue and brown look so good together.
