I'm going crazy!! Need 5-point Army star

2 Attachment(s)
I can find 5 pointed star (paper pieced, which I have never done) and I can find pictures of the US Army Star (not the patriotic one). HELP, does anyone one have any ideas? I am making one of my favorite soldiers a quilt and I wanted to put the ARMY block and the Army star on the back, about a 12 inch block along with the label.
This is what I would likehttp://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=491688&stc=1
This I found and can do.http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...d=491689&stc=1

Any suggestions on an easier way to do the first picture?????

How about appliqué layering each color as you go. Starting with the gold then black then white, I have never seen a pieced block that would mimic your idea.

Love your quilt front it's very cool.

Billi said what i was thinking RE: multiple appliques...cuz it would be tough to match the colors if you tried to do it with a strip pieced yellow/black/white then cut at the opposite angles to join for the star....unless maybe you made the star a little "fatter". I think you could do that and still have the result you want.
LOVE your Army log cabin creation - please share a photo when it's done.

How about a machine embroidered appliqued star? Large hoop, double reverse applique, black square, then white applique, yellow thread.

Ditto Billi said.

Can't help, but Good for You! I wish I had been quilting when my dad was still living. I've seen such wonderful ideas for veterans, and he would have been so proud of a quilt like that - he wore his "US Army - Retired" cap every day the last four years of his life. Your soldier is going to be so happy and proud, even if the star doesn't come out exactly like your picture. What a wonderful thing to do!

Check out quilters cache. She has an Army Star block.

I looked all through EQ and Blockbase and did not see one similar to your picture.

If it were me, I would do it as an applique. If you want to use it as a pattern, you could take the pic to Office Depot or Staples or some place like that and get it enlarged to the size you want and then just sew directly onto the paper, then tear the paper off after all the pieces are attached. Friends I know are using the Wonderfil DecoBob size 80 thread for their raw edge machine applique, both top & bottom. http://www.wonderfilonline.com/index.php?cPath=21_25 I would use some type fusing that could be ironed on after you sew the stabilizer line and before the Decobob. Looks like a great project.

Edited to add: Found the star http://www.quilterblogs.com/tag/army...quilt%20block/

OK, I bought this pattern on eBay from a magazine which was from Quiltmaker July/August 2014 issue. See if this will work for you.
