I'm happy when . . .
I'm happy when
- when I have six inches of thread left on the bobbin and top thread at the end of a long seam - when I have just enough fabric to cut out all the pieces What are some of your 'simple happies'? |
When I'm off work and it's a snow or rain day and I can stay in and quilt. Don't tell my farmer husband that though since he hasn't been able to get in the field yet. Getting more snow right now.

-When I don't lose the points of my triangles after sewing them into my block
-when my seams line up perfectly |
- I have the house to myself for an afternoon and can quilt all day!

The final stitches to finish a quilt! It means I can get started on the next idea haunting my dreams!! Also the smile on the face of the recipient of my quilts

When i actually like my finished project. And the biggie-----
When I do not have any mismatched, misplaced, sewn backwards pieces to rip out. |
when there are no issues with the frame quilting!
|
When I can make a quilt top and or entire quilt from my stash.

When I am sewing on the binding, knowing that my next new quilt will soon be started.
When I get each UFO completed. |
When I throw caution to the wind and FMQ like I've been doing it for years, but actually only on 2 quilts, and the quilts come out looking pretty darn good, despite the mistakes!!!! lol

When my "color memory" is spot on. By this, I mean when I find a new fabric in a store, and I say to myself, I think I have just the right shade of pinkish taupe, steely grey, light peacock teal (or whatever) to go with it. And I get the new fabric home and I check, and it's perfect.

When blocks are all squared up and trimmed, sitting in a neat stack and looking oh so professional and even. And when the last binding stitch is done , and when it comes out of the dryer all warm and cuddly! So many happy moments before it goes to a new home.

that is a satisfying feeling ;-)
I'm happiest if I don't have to change the bobbin until I reach the end of a pass on the longarm. |
When I take the photograph that I will put here to show my friends. Part of the reason that I was able to complete 6 UFO's last month is because I could not wait for you to see the progress I made.

When the finished project looks like I envisioned it before I started.
When I've surpassed my original vision it is even better! When I don't spend more time unsewing than sewing. |
When I am in my quilt room/studio sewing. I try to keep something in progress that I can pick up and sew for at least a little while every day. I may be cutting or prepping for quilting, but I just "have" to sew a little. One reason I don't get quilts finished. My piecing machine is also the one I put on my HandiQuilter frame. While I am quilting, I go into sewing withdrawal. I keep looking for a secondary machine that I can enjoy piecing with, but no luck so far.

When I run out of a bobbin and can find another one, full and in the right color. :)

When I read all these good thoughts! Love what everyone else has posted and add my "ditto"s! I would add that I am happy when I give a quilt as a gift and the recipients love it as much as I do!
