with this GORGEOUS fabric I just found.
It's the Geisha Girl from Kona Bay/Nobu Collection.
I just HAD to buy it!
Ok, so I really didn't....YES I DID!
Was reading about it and found out they only make so much and once it's gone, it's gone. SO.....I HAD TO GET IT!!

http://www.craftconn.com/Main.asp?Task=Custom&Step=Fabric+Details&productID =23156

Plus, when I went searching other sites for it, they were sold out, so I figured I better get while the getting was good!

Your absolutely right, it's a must have!
I love the panel shes gorgeous! Cudos to you

tlrnhi 04-04-2008 01:29 AM

That's what I first saw!
I bought 2 of them, plus coordinating fabric to go with it.
I'll probably NEVER cut it, but I'll have it! :)

Meant to add too....this is what happens when I click on the links at the bottom of these pages.

If you need help with that overflowing closet, I will take some of that off your hands so your closet isn't too full. I don't mind doing it. It's the least I can do for a quilting buddy. Only glad to help out!!

vicki reno 04-04-2008 05:30 AM

Sure! Come on over. I can spare some!

live2teach 04-04-2008 05:32 AM

Oh, yes it is a must have. Those panels are gorgeous. I think the black is my favorite, too.

You know before I found this forum I use to have money in my bank!!!! You guys are KILLING ME!!!
I just ordered a panel myself!!! I have noooooo idea how I will use it, but its there for when I do need it!!!

Yes thats right I too HAVE TO HAVE IT!!! I NEEEED IT!

doh! my credit card people are laughing at me with that evil laugh of theirs again cause they are getting more of my money!

Cathy M 04-04-2008 07:12 AM

What gorgeous fabric- I think it is wonderful that you purchased it as you will appreciate it in the way the designer hopes for. I have fabrics in the house here that will probably end up being buried with me as I fondle them all the time but never do anything with them as I can't make up my mind what the 'perfect' quilt would be sewn with them.

Quilting Aggi 04-04-2008 07:20 AM

Okay I can see me spending way too much money on that site!! On top of one of those panels, I also got the funniest looking "Quilting Squad" notecards, and a fun applique pattern of the "Quilting Diva" (I think thats the name of it). whew.... but good price for what I got!!

Thanks (I think) for sharing!!!

Cheers!

You live in Canada right? How do you manage with the GST & duties? I'm in BC & don't usually order because of the "unknown" actual finished cost.

Same Here :!:  I saw a quilt several years ago with a similar figure--this figure was the size fo a bed qult and then last Feb at the same show was a smaller figure set in a wall hanging with samll blocks around it. I think thats what I will do. The large panel with samll blocks around it. The problem will be getting time to do it.

ummm thats a really good question!!! I guess we dont' have to pay the Canadian taxes.. I've purchased some things where I had to pay duty to customs.. .other times I haven't had a hitch. I remember a few years ago purchasing two cross stitch patterns on ebay... I had to pay duty when it arrived.

I am still waiting on my package from thousands of bolts.com, I am curious to see what happens there with duty and tax, etc. Stay tuned!

yes I live in Newfoundland.

Cheers

tlrnhi 04-04-2008 05:43 PM

I got confirmation that my fabric shipped!
WOOHOO!!!

vicki reno 04-05-2008 02:10 AM

I ordered the Japanese lady and can't wait for it to get here. I have coordinating fabrics to make a wall hanging---maybe use the fan pattern to surround the figure? I am not sure how that'd look so once it gets here, I'll play around with it some more.

One more won't hurt...c'mon!

Madelyn 04-06-2008 02:46 PM

Did anyone order any of the coordinating fabrics? If so, which ones? I like the leaves, especially the red and the black.

If I were to order the lady, I would make her into a wall hanging. Actually, I don't think I would use any other fabric around her - she's beautiful just the way she is.

Madelyn

tlrnhi 04-06-2008 03:35 PM

I ordered coordinating fabric, but don't remember which ones.
Bad, huh?

Shari1967 04-09-2008 07:47 PM

She's gorgeous!!!

They have absolutely gorgeous oriental material. Click on fabrics and find the on-line store. Their fabric is kinda pricey, but the quality is excellent.

I hate to even go into their store -- it's too dangerous (for my pocket book).

THAT"S MEAN!!!
You know I'd LOVE to meet you there, but I'm stuck here,,,,but, on the upside...a trip to Singapore is looking to be in my future! Found a shop with PURTY fabric I'm going to go visit!

Barbm 04-10-2008 03:17 PM

tlrnhi- you are very bad for the pocket. I love the fabric panel! I ordered one and some coordinates to make a wall hanging for my office. My daughter is going to Japan on the 22nd and will be gone for a year. Last time she was there she sent me a plate with a pagoda on it. It will look nice by it.

Want some of my stash? send me your address by PM.

Barb

Not too keen on the Geisha one tho.
But I do like the garden gate one!

I have alot of Japanese stuff. Hubby will get me something nice or I'll find something nice when I go. Have a TON of teapots that are really cool that I picked up while there. Should be going again soon and will hopefully track down some fabric shops while there.
Shari...wanna join me? hehehe

Quilting Aggi 04-11-2008 03:42 AM

My package was sent on the 4th of April!! I can't WAIT to get my little package in the mail!! I love getting this stuff in the mail!! Its little surprises at the end of the work day to cheer me up after a crazy busy day!!

I cant' wait to see my Geisha!

Barbm 04-11-2008 04:41 AM

Will you "guys" post pics after you finish your projects? I think I'm going to have to ask for some tea pots for my Asian corner. I have an even better Asian "thing"- my grandson is part Asian. He will be gone to Japan with his parents, but I'm hoping I can go to visit in Sept.

Quilting Aggi 04-11-2008 05:08 AM

There are some gorgeous teapots out there Barbm

When I eventually get my sewing room/studio/classroom in my home, I plan to have a little section set up for tea time :) I made these beautiful tea cup placemats that would look great for it! nice china blue colours.

Me either! I can't wait for the mailman to come and when he doesn't bring me a package...it makes me sad. :(

lfw045 04-11-2008 06:19 AM

My package arrived, but I am visiting with my dad for a couple of weeks so it will be next week before I get to see the "ladies". I had my hubby open the package and look and he told me they were beautiful. It is hard to wait to see them........lol. Patience...................................... My hubby is half Japanese and my children are quarter-pounders so the girls are going to love these quilts from these panels....of course one is for me though........lol

DonnaRae 04-11-2008 07:56 AM
