I too, am a member of the rotary-blade-cuts. I was just cutting the the strip that I needed and was thinking I would be done soon, when I took my eyes off the cutting for just a sec. but sec cost me cutting the tip off of my middle finger on the left hand. When to emergence and had the tip stitched back on, they said it would protect the nerve endings, but would die off by the time to take stitches out... Sew don't take your eyes off your project while cutting...I am getting feeling back into the finger tip. So back to hand quilting.

Glad your finger will be ok. I call it the "CYF" club (cut your finger).

I am also a member.

Not particularly proud of that fact, though.

I made the mistake of trying it out right before I was to head to work at a salon. Brand new out of the package. tip of right side of left index finger. AND it was "perm and color" day. Got the super glue took it to work and had one of the other gals help me put it on. You can call it the "CYF" or the "RCC" (rotary cut club). Everyone knows it usually involves an index finger. Although I know of one who cut her pinky. She came "around the bend" as she called it. Didn't feel like turning and just use a short cut. Pinky of left hand was sticking out just right. Rotary cut toward herself like a big "U". Nipped the pinky with part of the nail. OUCH!!!

Haven't cut a finger yet, does slitting your forearm count?? Didn't want to take the chance of cutting the piece wrong by turning it so it would be a "normal" cut. O no, I had to try cutting under my left arm. Didn't work well.

Ouch!! It makes me cringe to hear this.

Ouch! I haven't cut myself.....yet...... with the cutter while cutting fabric, but I have cut myself by forgetting to close the rotary cutter blade guard, then somehow brushing my hand against it while it was laying on my cutting mat. Now I use the older Olfa cutter that you have to squeeze the handle to make the blade come out so you can use it. (The cut wasn't bad, but it taught me a lesson!)

Hope you heal quickly. Thank you for making us all pay a little closer attention. You may have saved someone from getting hurt.
