I'm working on the Simplicity 2935 Butterfly Rag Quilt.
I'm stuck at the part where you attatch 4B to 5B, I think this is ONLY the 3rd step!
Simplicitys pattern pieces don't even match up, which is the exact same as what I have cut out. Maybe and PROBABLY I've done something wrong! I'm frustated, so thus I have walked away, cooked dinner and took a shower.
I'd like to get this done. If anyone could or would help me out by giving me some sort of instruction, I'd be greatly appreciative!

Rag quilts are really easy. Even if you get the pieces a little too big or too small, you can still make it work. Check your measurements and cut the pieces down if needed. Otherwise, you can just fudge them together, since you'll be "ragging" the edges and it won't show.

I KNOW you can do this!!! Just read through ALL the directions first. Take your time!! You'll get it! You go girl!!!

I'll try to fudge the pieces together, and I cut them out just as the instrucions said too. I read the instructions the day before I even got out the fabric. Then the day of I read them again then I began cutting. I just hope this turns out. Thanks for your help so far!!

What I mean is it the top wings not fitting the bottom wings???Or is it the smaller ones in the topwing??

is the top and the bottom not matching up? or is it not matching the body? I have one of the pattern but is is of the ladybug. I could not understand what you are having a problem. Are you able to take a pictrue so we can see what the problem might be? :oops:

Thanks for the video tip, I just happened to watch that one this morning! LOL I wanted as many tips as possible. Well, I stopped working on the quilt it is now 11:30pm and I haven't even completed one side of the butterfly yet!! Actually alot of the pieces don't match up, I even tried to flip them then pin them, no prevail. So, I'lll do what I can, I don't think I will be giving this away as a gift, it's awful! I'll take a pic, and I will say now how embarrased I am at how this worked outthus far! :oops:

Maybe contact customer service might be pattern? Do u have a quilt store or joannes close by u could take it to and ask?

I just finished making some totes and hats from pattern and was astonished how many times I had to turn the fabric, or pattern or interfacing in another direction before cutting. (ask me how I found out!)

Make sure you follow the directions for layout carefully and everything should fit as intended. If not, use my method----make it fit!

I have made 2 of thee and the clown fish I love them they are super easy to put together I did hang the directions over my machine and that helped me a lot. Usually walking away helps me to figure it out I am sure you will just be sure you are using the right one left one left and right on right. Don't think I am saying this right but I know I did this on my first one.

I just finished doing the panda bear. First take a deep breath and then sit down and lay out the pattern as if it is your material. Look how the pieces sit next to each other. Then take your pieces and lay over the pattern. Remember you are bringing the back sides together to piece and maybe that is causing the confusion. Good luck.

i have the pattern and it's 2:00 a.m. so my mind is not right right now but if u can explain how it's not lining up i will look closer at pattern later in the day. rest easy rag quilts are very forgiving. if u still need help p.m. me and i will try to help

I have made the dog one and it worked out great. Just check to see if you did not turn the pieces by mistake

I seriously had to walk away from this quilt! It has frustrated me so, I appreciate EVERYONE who has offered the help to talk with me over the phone, to me in ESPECIALLY IN ANN ARBOR< GOOOO BLUE! I will take pictures and send them as soon as I can, I have removed it from my sewing room, because it has upset me so! I had cut all the pieces and batting, and I thought I could do this, I STILL MAYBE aBLE too. I just need a break! I"ll let you all know when I'm ready! I just put my butterfly together and had the same "aaaak!!" moment as you. The seams do NOT match - you have to ease them together. It works, I swear! If you want to PM me, I'll be happy to send you pictures. I took them step-by-step on one of the seams so you could see. I'd be happy to attempt posting them here if more than one person is interested......
