Howdy y'all :c)

I just found out this morning that Maria Elkins will be coming to do three seminars for our local quilter's guild in April! There are twenty openings for each session, and I've already signed up for all three and have put in to get off work for those two days. This will be my very first seminar. I'm so excited that I just HAD to share it with somebody!!! :c)

Maria Elkins does portrait quilts, and has appeared on the "Quilting Arts" TV show. I believe she has been spotlighted in their magazine too. The three classes she will be teaching while she's here will be "Fused Applique Portraits", "Color In Quiltmaking", and "Design and Composition". The first class will be on a Monday, the next two the following day, and then that night she will present a "trunk show" of her work at our monthly guild meeting. You can find more information about her by googling her name. :c)

She's great. I tried her portrait technique with a picture of my daughter. It was intimidating at first, but really much easier than you think.

That turned out wonderful! I'm planning on doing one of my daughter. I have a picture of her that is already in sepia tones that is my all-time favorite picture of her. :c)
