PS. When Marie started making her dolls, she was the one who made the clothes for them and will still sometimes make the particular outfit sample for the doll now.

I am not gossiping at all i was just stating a fact I feel for her loosing her son. it has nothing todo with her privite life. just janome and other companys trying to push there machines like singer and the others with like Martha Stewart and so on to get people to buy them . many people can't afford them many are out my price range i save up for mine lol.

I don't buy products because of celebrity endorsement, I listen to comments from friends. All of you here on the quilting board influence my decisions more than celebrity. Martha Stewart, Marie Osmond, and Kay Woods have all worked hard to get to where they are. I respect the achievements of all of these ladies. Each woman has valuable information to share that has been gained through experience, just as we each have something to share.

I am not really sticking up for Marie but she gets alot of women mad at her just because she's younger than some women including me. I think she's talented and I can't compete with her myself even in sewing. But I am still happy with who I am therefore I could never be jealous of her. God gave all of us a unique talent and were all different so I am happy to be me and I hope that everyone can say the same. By the way Happy Easter to everyone I don't want you to think I am grumpy

I have to admit that I pay absolutely no attention to any celebrety - see can't even spell the word.... celebrity. OK - I do not "do" dancing with the stars or any of that - and the magazines at the lanes of the grocery stores only make me laugh. I like to research the item for sale - IF it happens to be an item I really wish to own. Then I move on to things having to do with comparison pricing/shopping to see what I might get in another machine - do I need what they havedo/perform - now or in the future? Now let's look at Consumer guide reports. Then, bottom line = price/warranty etc. Can I afford it? Will I use it? Do I care if the color does not match my decor? (tongue in cheek here). Anyhow, I might feel badly if I had been watching a person who was the representative for a manufactured item in which I was interested and they suddenly got replaced with a younger, more familiar face for the younger generation - but in the end, I really pay no attention to the person who is supposedly "advertising" an item as being the "Cat's Meow" - see = even this statement ages me...... I just pay attention to the item in question.

Oh and so do I I could care less who's face is selling the item. If I want it and can afford it I get it but has nothing to do whos face is on the packaging or commercial thats materialistic whouldn't you call that. I usually buy off brand items because I love to save so i can buy other things too.

A local sewing machine dealer in my area is offering a class by a Kaye Wood certified teacher. Perhaps Kaye is offering to teach her methods in a Certified Teacher program like Martha Pullen does with her heirloom techniques.

None of us know what the circumstances are for Kaye Wood's leaving so getting angry with Janome is jumping to conclusions. As for having a younger spokesperson..what is the harm? Kaye Wood was "younger" when she started. I think we all agree that celebrity endorsements are of little value. We all seem to make our purchasing decisions based on our own research and recommendations from people we trust. If none of us is particularly influenced by the celebrity endorser what difference does it make who they use?

I do feel very sorry for her as well. BUT...her being a spokesperson for any sewing machine is not going to make me want to rush out & go buy one. Gossiping is not what we are doing here.... We are having an adult discussion.
 No problem.

Marie Osmond is the specialist. To me she is just another 'Martha Stewart'. She has her 'name/hands' into everything, but can't really do it all.

Yes, Marie has a broader celebrity name then Kaye. And maybe Marie can sew, but Kaye is a sew-er/quilter!!

Would you or your none sewing friends purchase a machine just because someone is a celebrity????

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

I would not buy any thing from Marie osmond, or anyone else because they are a star. but I really like Kaye Wood. Penny

So has our Tampa, Fla PBS station. I will miss her but now I will just by her CD'S.
Thanks for the info.
