We are all imperfect so our quilts are as well. I call the imperfections, character. Enjoy stitching and creating!

I don't think so! I think it's more of everyone else's quilts look so much better than mine and the maker of the quilt tends to notice mistakes a lot more than others. The one quilt of mine I had spread over my mom's bed (it was too big for mine) and the little mistakes were bothering me but my brother didn't notice til he asked me to point them out! My mom (a quilter of 15 years, but she claims she's not very good) saw some of the bigger mistakes and told me how to fix them next time!

Yep, that's me, too! :-) Just enjoy your quilting. And learn from your mistakes so next time you just make new ones!

There is an old tradition among quilters before us that they would make an intentional mistake b/c only God is perfect.
So I guess I am keeping the tradition alive :D:D

I have read this also.....

I keep the "only God makes something perfect!" thought alive!!! No matter how hard I try, I goof someplace but to my surprise people don't care. They're so pleased to have a genuine hand made (usually beautiful!) item, they either don't notice or all my friends are too nice to mention the mistake.

I like the quote:
"One can be perfect OR one can make a quilt"

I believe the Amish always make a deliberate mistake in their quilts because they believe (as I also do) that only God makes things perfect. So when you do make a mistake and someone points it out to you, tell them only God makes things perfect!

You know sometimes I turn a block just a quarter turn and it has nothing to do with doing it on purpose! I used to think that everything had to be "perfect". Now I just strive to get it "as good as I can" and am so much happier.

I don't purposely make a mistake but can see how an off block or something someone would purposely do to make their quilt unique would be kinda cute and like their own signature, but I've never made a perfect quilt either. I THINK that is kinda impossible since we are all imperfect beings :) :) I would bet if you sent a picture, not a one of us would notice.

Some years ago, on a kingsize quilt for our bed, a heart block was accidentally turned sideways, didn't notice it until I had quilted the whole thing (I use a floor standing hoop), no way was I taking it apart, so I named it "Change of Heart" and everyone loves the quilt and its name. piecefully, the old one
