Improv Modern Baby Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I just finished this baby quilt top. Cannot decide how to quilt it. Suggestions anyone? I have not quilted before - just done tied finishes.

a modern quilt deserves a straight line OR use walking foot and a wavy stitch from your machine OR do your own slightly wavy line ... and echo it all the way through :)

Great top!
I am assuming this will be your first for machine quilting? If so, you have a few choices on how to prepare your sandwich for the machine. You can use 505 spray, safety pins, thread baste, use Hobbs fusible batt or Elmer's washable school glue. After the sandwich is ready for the machine you can either use your walking foot for straight line quilting or try your hand at Free Motion Quilting with the darning or hopping foot. I good place to learn FMQ skills is at Leah Day's blog site. |
Can't help with design for quilting, but wanted to say I really like your quilt!
|
You have great spaces for quilting! Definitly check the Leah Day website for ideas.

I agree with the others to either do straight line or wavy lines (either horizontal or vertical). Really cute quilt!

This is super cute! I love the fabrics...do you know or remember what they were called?
As far as quilting goes...I immediately had to think of birdhouses to reflect the fabric, but I think the others are right...something more modern and straight-liney might be better. Keep us posted! |
Love your quilt. It's crisp and refreshing!
|
oh! I just thought of something that might be really cute! For the sashing, what do you think about bird footprints?! :-)
|
I just wanted to say that I think you did a fabulous job of improvising! Please do another picture when it's done
