Lynda, it's always a question, where to start. Some authors suggest sewing scraps together and adding them to other constructed pieces.
Here's one of a series starting with 9P. |
Another interesting piece...

This thread couldn't have come at a better time, our Guild has an Improv mini quilt challenge. We are not allowed to use a pattern, but it can be crazy quilted, appliqué or pieced, or whatever combo you want. It can't be any larger than 15x15

That sounds like a lot of fun! Enjoy the process. Which is what improv is all about (for me). Rob |
Love everything about this one, especially the colors. I may have to switch my weekend quilting plans!
|
And I need to get an improv finished this weekend. Good plans.

We have a Challenge for our next Qyuilt Show to make a 15x15 Improv Quilt Block. Here is what I came up with.

Patchworkbarb--Very nice block!

Barb. What confidence and courage. Just go for it. The repitition of the order of the pieces is unifying to what seems random. Very nice.
|
Patchworkbarb, this reminds me of an accordion. It's probably not what you were intending, but very nice indeed.
|
Do you use an inspiration for an improv quilt?
|
I love all these quilts! Great thread, thanks for starting it!

Here's one of mine. I saw something similar somewhere (probably Pinterest) and it inspired me.

Bilben...a set of three that looks like one...nice..the center grouping reminded me of planet Saturn's rings...and the outer its moons....
|
Very nice, Bilben!

Very nice and a great idea!
