Indochine fabric?

I've tried to Google this and no luck. What is "Indochine" fabric? How does it compare to other 100% cottons?

TIA-

The only thing I can come up with is a form of chintz....?? Don't know anything else, sorry.

I've just googled. Alexander Henry have a couple of prints called Indochine.

On French sites coton Indochine is a heavy cotton for shirts.

Thanks....I came up with the Alexander Henry prints too. They looked Asian, but that didn't tell me about the fabric.

Heavy cotton--hmmmm....interesting!

Thanks

I *think* that this term is being used by Alexander Henry and others to refer to a pattern that they think is indicative of the geographical area that used to be known as Indochina, rather than to the type of fabric. I found references to carpet and drapery fabric called Indochine.

The Fat Quarter Shop has a new Fabric by Dear Stella Designs, called Indochine. Might get some info there.
