An inexpensive source for 108" zippers

Any of these zippers aren't the double zip (from either end) separate. Their prices aren't bad. I contacted the company and asked if they sold to individuals or only businesses. They contacted me back in just a few minutes and said that they sell to anyone that has the money to buy the zippers. Now, my ? is: Should leader zippers be metal or plastic or does it matter.

I would stick to plastic teeth, then you KNOW you won't have any rust issues.

I would stick with plastic zippers as if you ever hit one with your needle the plastic would give more than metal and hopefully not do any major damage to your machine in the process.

definitely plastic...we spray the backs to let their wrinkles relax... you don't want to worry about the dampness...

tip...i put my zippers on differently than their suggestions...if you put both the female sides on with the zipper handle at the right side and both mail sides to correspond to that, then you can take the quilt off and turn it 180 and put back on the other direction.... this helps a lot when doing borders intricately...

It depends on the usage and the metal. I have used both but have a preference for brass.

i've been wanting to change to velcro... my zippers were free and both have that 'instant on' feature, but it seams to me that the velcro would be easier to adjust a bit...once you sew the zippers on, they're not easily adjustable...and by that time, i just want to quilt...

Thanks for the link. I use both plastic & metal, depending on what I am constructing.
