I agree that Sew Alongs are much more cost effective and added bonus are: no deadlines, no color/theme restrictions. And, it's not a race. We do Sew Alongs at our own pace.

So far, oksewglad has expressed interest in making Burgoyne Surrounded. Anyone else have any input/ideas/suggestions?

Here is "Cabin in the Woods". Each block is a childhood memory from Debbie from when her family stayed in a cabin in the mountains of California. It's all very interesting and creative. I was raised not too far from that place. I have one block on the ironing board and then 6 more to make. The background is Navy but in some light mine looks black.

As you can see I get the cart before the horse. I can't wait to put it together and this is correct according to her directions, even though I don't have all the blocks done.

Oops! Meant to include Watson and NZquilter as being interested in Burg Surrounded. Sorry!

For me, the thing about swaps is there's a deadline and a commitment to other people to keep your word when you have said you will participate. The thing with sew-a-longs is other things can happen to draw my interest, change my mind, or change my schedule, then I can put off keeping up with it. I can see that no deadline can be a positive, but for me it tends to be a UFO. But I prefer the sew-a-long because of the things mentioned: use your own colors, sew seams your own way, no postage. I also like them because of less stress-- I sew to please myself and don't need to worry my sewing doesn't please the person who receives it.

Burgoyne Surrounded is on my to-do list.

I'd do a quilt along with Burg Surrounded. I love scrappy and small pieces. I participate in as many "sew-along" projects on QB as I can.

I tend to stay away from block swaps, I've not yet put together a quilt using blocks I got in a swap, so sure don't need anymore. I like fabric swaps though.

So many possibilities on a Burgoyne Surrounded anyone could join in and make it there own either scrappy, controlled scrappy or with just yardage in there colors they wish. Oh look at me itiching to start another project. But this one is on my to do list for along time as well as Shakespeare in the Park and Trail Mix which is a free pattern on all people quilt.

Here is a scrappy version that Rebecca S posted here on the QB back in 2015.

Here is another one that someone used a black background and the rest is scrappy.

Another all scrappy.
