Need a recommendation for ink pens to use on quilt labels tia

I use Micron 05 on my quilt labels.

I need a wide tip one that is permanent. i have loads of the Pigma pens .05 and .01. do they make a wider one? what i want to do is make black lines on fabric before i cut it that will be permanent. the fabric that has this is expensive and only comes in 1/2 yd cuts. So i want to make my own then cut triangles or diamonds out. I am doing a test with scraps and a sharpie but doubt it will stay well over time.

the ones wanted here by the original poster would be .05 size. .01 is good too but a bit scratchy to use on some fabrics to me. I always heat set when dry just to be on the safe side and have signature quilts 20 years old that still look good.
Enjoy using them. Now i'm off to buy the larger one!

Pentel Arts Gel Roller for Fabric
 

I absolutely love the Pentel Arts Gel Roller for Fabric pen. It is so black and no fading yet. I used these again recently when making end of year gifts for our sweet teachers. My daughter wrote out the label first with the pen (she's 6) and then I traced over it a second time because she's never written with a pen on fabric before. Going over it a second time made it black black black and after I let it sit for a day, I heat set with the iron and then washed in the machine on hot, then warm, before gifting. There was no change in the label. It was still black black so I'm in love and will never use another pen. No more stamping to make labels, yay!

Gel ink pens are absolutely permanent. My husband left the cap off and dropped it on one of his dress shirts, where it wicked into the fabric for some time before it was discovered. I tried EVERYTHING to get that stain out. I even replicated the stains; put several blotches on scrap fabric and experimented with everything the internet recommended, from laundry products to brake cleaner. Nothing worked. I finally gave up when I came across a law enforcement website that recommends people write checks with gel ink pens, because criminals can't bleach the ink out of the paper.

I love gel pens and use them a lot but was afraid it would leach or run in the laundry. Thank you so much for this info. Now I don't need to go and spend $ on something else. Annie

If it's not a gel pen specifically designed for fabric, I would just make sure you try a scrap first? It's easier to write on the fabric if you back it with freezer paper (iron it on, there are tutorials if you've never done this) which is what I did for my 6yo. If you're going with the raw edge applique route, backing it with the fusible web should make it stiff enough for the writing to be easy :)
