I am making a memory quilt
I want to use my inkjet printer to print some photos.

I like the idea of using 100% cotton and ironing that to freezer paper since the paper doesnt fuse...it just makes it temporary so you can feed your sheet through the printer.

has anyone used this method?
The AVERY product that is sold for photo transfers....I wonder if I should just get that.....

And the main question I have is....when I print my great great great grandmothers picture onto my quilt block....is that ink PERMANENT? I dont want to wash my photos away!!!

I have never used the freezer paper method but have had great luck with Printed Treasures products. Make sure you read the package and buy the one that says it's washable. I buy them at JoAnn's when I have a coupon. Good Luck!

You need to use something like bubble jet set or they will wash out either that or go with the ready to print sheets Bubble jet set is a lot cheaper and 1 bottle will last quite a long time

I have used the freezer paper method to make labels for my quilts by printing them out. My little great niece just turned 9 in Feb and her Dad said she askes him to read her "heart" to her all the time. It's been washed over the last 9 years and the ink is still hanging on there. I just print them and then cut the label in a heart shape and make sure I heat set the ink with a hot iron. Good luck hope this helps you.

My experience has been good with June Tailors packaged printable fabric, washable not dry clean only. You can get it at Joanns and with a coupon it is reasonable for special uses.

You need to wash the fabric first, and do not use any kind of fabric softener.
Then use the bubble jet products as listed on the bottle :D:D:D

The Avery photo transfer product that you print an image on and then iron onto fabric leaves a plastic-like stiff feeling image on the fabric. Better for crafts than quilting. The prepared fabric for inkjet printing works well, and so does treating the fabric with Bubble Jet Set and ironing on to freezer paper.
I once tried just printing on plain fabric backed with freezer paper and the ink washed out leaving a faded image.

Where do I find this BUBBLE JET stuff????
