Now this is going to sound silly but I need some advice on how to wash off “ink”. :( :?: :?:
My DH will cut out my pieces for me for my Grandmothers Flower Garden, Bow Tie… etc. IF I draw them on the wrong side of the fabric and he cuts while watching TV. I have plastic templates that are now starting to get ink build up around the edges…. pretty bad on some of them. Anyone have any ideas of what to use to get it off? Any ideas or suggestions welcome as I am not sure what to use!!! Mary |
I would try Hair spray. It removes ink on fabric. Good luck

How about rubbing alcohol? What kind of ink do you use?
|
Try finger polish remover. Most ink in pens now is low quality so it isn't hard to remove as it use to be. When I mark fabric I use Crayola Washable Markers fine tip. It washes right out of the fabric or whatever else it gets on. Blue color seems to be the one stubborn color marker to wash out but the other colors wash out just fine.

If these are thin plastic templates rather than thick acrylic templates, I would definitely test any solvents on a small area to make sure they won't melt or warp the edge.

These are the thick acrylic templates (one is a thinner one but still acrylic). The rest are 1/8 inch thick or so. :?:
Thanks for all the answers Barb V , BellaBoo and Prism99. I think I will try the hair spray and the polish remover and the rubbing alcohol. Then I will see which one(s) work the best and post back to let you know in case someone else does this!   Thanks Mary |
How abt using an extra ultra (what the finest point is) black SHARPIE. I dont think the ink would build up like a BIC. They do get "gooey" sometimes! Hope this helps!

I am just impressed your husband cuts them out for you! Mine pets the dog and watches tv while I work on my quilts!

If you use Nail Polish Remover, make sure it's non-acitone. If it's not, it'll melt your plastic/acrylic.
