Do you get hung up on a favorite color for a year or so and can't buy enough fabric in that shade? One year, it was browns for me; another oranges. This spring I was on a purple and green kick. On a similar note, do you start building a stash with a particular theme such as fall, winter? I also find that I start zeroing in on a couple of designers without even knowing I'm doing it. I see a bolt of fabric, have to buy it and when I get home, realize that it is a particular designer. All this being said, I'm currently on the lookout for reds and find I lean towards Red Rooster and Bernartex. Guilty as charged - come lock me up and provide candy corn! Thanks for reading my ponderings.

I know exactly what you mean about the colors, I go through phases too. I think I'm coming out of a sea-glass bluish-green phase and into a brown phase at the moment...

Red Rooster and Benartex are manufacturers, not designers, but I think I know what you mean. I like a lot of Robyn Pandolph fabrics, they're very feminine, she designs for RJR. I also like Fig Tree, which is manufactured by Moda. Fig Tree designs are pretty and the colors are fresh.

I have not bought any fabrics for over 2 years. I was given generous amounts of fabrics from 4 different people. It happened while we were under strict money guidelines. I have it all seperated into colors, with each project it is so hard to choose which colors to chose from. But, I find myself (like you) being on kicks of certain colors. This year every quilt I have made has had greens in it. Now I am noticing I am using a lot of blues.

Gah. Yes.

Except it went by theme....

Girlie
Unusual
Traditional
Floral
Batik...

It never ends...

My stash is becoming more well-rounded, as I add colors I need in addition to colors I prefer. It certainly makes shopping from my stash easier now that I have a wider selection of colors in it. I have even learned to like pastels, yellows, oranges, and purples.

I haven't bought in a long time. I have a large stash and just buy what I need to complete a project. My likes do change with time though. I understand what you are talking about. :)

Dont care for blue even though that is the most popular color for quilters.
I collect all colors for my stash but mostly greens and rose.

My taste changes too. I used to be into brighter colors, now I like browns and neutrals. Eventually my stash will be really well-rounded, if I live that long! :P
