This is an outstanding Medusa - you go for it girl. Keep us informed along the way, I don't even know how to begin re creating this.

MimiBug123 10-04-2012 03:44 AM

That thing would scare me silly, but if you like it, go for it!

callen 10-04-2012 03:58 AM

OMG, that sure is ambitious. Best of luck to you - I wouldn't even come close to attempting it basically I HATE snakes so they are out of the question even if I had the talent to do it. Now, doesn't that sound anal but the truth be known I am terrified of snakes, any way, shape or form.
Does look like a beautiful design, though, just not for me.

sew_Tracy 10-04-2012 04:00 AM

I can see many textures of fabrics and threads and textures involved, satin, cord, soft suede, trapunto, rope, beads, sequins, wool, etc. Looks like fun, I am super jealous that you can find time for her (you). Make it yours!

llweezie 10-04-2012 04:00 AM

I love that picture too!! Yes go for it ! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

lisalovesquilting 10-04-2012 04:08 AM

Well for me, it would drive me insane. But you have a real desire to do it so for you it will be fun and exciting! Go for it.
I hope you will give us updates a you go along.

lfstamper 10-04-2012 04:11 AM

I love it. Medusa has always been one of my favorites.

joyce j 10-04-2012 04:27 AM

Well what may be insane to one may be genius in the outcome. Have fun with it and don't let it make you insane.

Caswews 10-04-2012 04:46 AM

ITs beautiful..and when you are done be sure to show us all pictures .. You go girl you go !

dolores 10-04-2012 04:47 AM

That would be beautiful. Go for it. just show us when it is done.

Vickymomof6 10-04-2012 04:57 AM

Insane, challenging, fun, different,
all these words fit but if it's you what does it matter.

pollyjvan9 10-04-2012 05:04 AM

I can't wait to see what you do with this. You may not be insane, but I sure would be to tackle something like this! But, it does make me think of an Indian Maiden I would like to attempt.

brendapm 10-04-2012 05:10 AM

Oh, WOW! Never thought of Medusa that way. Great art piece, so many possibilities. Go for it. Some of the greatest artists were insane. I can't wait to see it. Take your time, search for fabrics, mediums, dream about it. I can't wait to see it, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

jeaninmaine 10-04-2012 05:44 AM

I love it!!! I think you're right to leave the wings off. If you're not good with drawing faces, you might want to print the face on some skin colored fabric and then go over it with your markers.

judykay 10-04-2012 06:42 AM

Go for it...Please keep us posted of your progress with pictures along the way.

butterflies5518 10-04-2012 06:47 AM

Love the picture but beyond my skills. Please post a picture when it is completed (I'll be watching). Love the idea of beading.

GrannyFitz4 10-04-2012 07:44 AM

I admire people who are creative enough to get out of the box. Go for it!

I assume you know about this, but I thought I'd post it just in case you didn't. Several colors by different makers out there.

Lisa, I have seen that before thanks for link. I love the fabric and it will most likely end up int he design somewhere.

QuilterMomOf3 10-04-2012 07:50 AM

I say more power to you.

i love Greek mythology...so I may be a little biased...

JudeWill 10-04-2012 07:54 AM

I'd say a bit of both! Love, love, love the picture. Can't wait to see the finished product! It will be gorgeous!

LadyElisabeth 10-04-2012 09:03 AM

And are we not all a little insane? We cut good pieces of fabric apart into little pieces and then sew them back together. And boy is it a LOT of FUN :) :) :)

AuntieD 10-04-2012 10:23 AM

By all means try it! and be sure to post photos!

fireworkslover 10-04-2012 10:57 AM

I'd use iridescent Paint Sticks for the snakes, probably using a brush to apply on the fabric, so you can blend the colors. Photo Shop the face? Real beads for sure, in my opinion.

carolynjo 10-04-2012 11:23 AM

Ditto! Go for it!

karate lady 10-04-2012 11:43 AM

Please be sure and post a picture when done. is an awesome picture...

sewsew busy 10-04-2012 12:56 PM

teric 10-04-2012 02:52 PM

I really really like the picture...cant wait for the finish project...I myself would start scrapy with the snakes....:}

nstitches4u 10-04-2012 04:32 PM

I will be interested to see your finished quilt.

caspharm 10-04-2012 04:36 PM

I think it would be cool. It definitely would be more 3d if you use embellishments.

liking quilting 10-04-2012 05:21 PM

Insane. I'd leave out the snakes too.

quiltingnonie 10-04-2012 05:45 PM

Insane. But only because I HATE snakes. :(

ctipton 10-04-2012 07:01 PM

Rock on Sweetie

My time 10-04-2012 07:13 PM

Do you think you would paint the face? This is quite the fancinating project. Look forward to future posts! It will be awesome!!

newbiequilter 10-04-2012 08:42 PM

Oh heck yeah! And a definite YES to the beading.....looking forward to see a pix of the finished product. No pressure.

Pepita 10-04-2012 11:46 PM

Do you have to get permission from the artist? I would think unless you are the artist, it is considered intellectual property, or artistic property. (I hate to be a downer) But if you are going to put the kind of work into it that I suspect you will, and you may want to show it in public, you may need to look into this.

llong0233 10-05-2012 09:29 AM

That is the most wonderful Medusa I've ever seen! Please, please, please show us the finished product. Good luck and have fun. You're my hero.

LisaGibbs 10-05-2012 11:58 AM

And I thought my applique with simple pedals was ambitious, you sure have your work cut out for you. Go for it.

applique 10-06-2012 04:26 AM

You have the picture so I would enlarge it (at Staples in color). Then place a piece of clear plastic over it and with a very fine point sharpie trace around every color change you see. When done enlarge the tracing to the desired size nd use as your applique pattern to trace and fuse pieces. Like a fabric by numbers puzzle! I do it all the time.
