Instead of Dear Jane, how about Dear Me?
I'm currently working on a GFG and have almost all of the flowers done. I had cut the fabric for the pathway of a nice cream color. But after much back and forth I've decided it just doesn't speak to me. So now I have about 500 4" squares of cream fabric all cut.
My next quilt that has been stewing was to do a Dear Jane all hand pieced. I love the variety of blocks. So I was thinking, what if I take my 500 cream squares and use them as the starting point for 500 unique blocks? Picking fabric from my stash of batiks and doing my own version of a Dear Jane? Nice thing is there wouldn't been any guidelines except those I make up myself. I could do piecing, applique, I could do some of Jane's blocks on a smaller scale, some farmers wife blocks, some civil war blocks, maybe make up some myself.
What do you think? A journey to find all sorts of unique blocks all starting with a cream colored square? Or am I nuts to start something that random?
