Have a couple of questions that I know can be answered by people on here - you are all awesome!!!!! Here goes sorry if it long but i am tired after a long day at work. I am making some potholders that once sewn they are turned inside out and topstitched around. that said i know there is a front and back of insulbrite. can't remember which :( the pattern says to stack the fabric as follows : insulbrite, batting , then two pieces of fabric ( the fabric is right side together - this i understand!) my questions is shiny side up or down on the insulbrite so that when it is turned inside out will work? i know i am probably over thinking this one

I took a class making an ironing board cover (Moda bakeshop pattern) and we were told the shiny side was the reflective side.

Shiny side should be the one that touches the hot stuff. I just learned this. As said, the shiny side reflects the heat away. So position your sandwich so when you turn it, the shiny side will be the one to grab the hot pan.

Unless you can guarantee which side will be used against the HOT dish, you may have to do two layers facing both ways.

would it hurt to use two layers of insul brite instead of just one insulbrite and one warm and natural????
