Insul-fleece for lifters?

I want to make some pot lifters and all I have on hand is insul-fleece. Will that work for the batting layer?

What is a pot lifter? Is it a casserole carrier? The insul brite cannot be used in the microwave!!!

not really sure what you are making!

I don't what else to call it. It's like an oven mit except its one piece used to lift pots out of the oven or off the stove. Maybe a pot holder?

usually two layers of insulbrite are enough for a regular pot holder!

the definition Insul-Fleece
Metalized mylar is layered between polyester fleece to create a high-quality barrier that reflects heat or cold

Sounds like just the thing to use for your oven mitts.

Thanks Fran. I knew that most of you use insul-bright, but Hancocks was out of that so I bought the fleece hoping it would work. Thanks to all of you for responding.

We made potholders for years with flannel inside and they worked just fine. I see no reason why your fleece would not work just as well. I know the insulbrite is the "in" thing but I think it is pretty expensive. Most of my potholders are a couple of layers of warm and natural batting and we use them quite successfully for any of our hot pots/pans, etc. When I use the insulbrite, I pair it with a layer of regular batting, rather than using 2 layers of insulbrite. Guess there are as many ways to make potholders as there are folks making them. Have fun making yours.
