Insulbrite Question
 

I am making an ironing board table from a TV snack tray table and just need to know this...which side of the isulbrite do you put on the ironing side? Does the silver side or the batting side go against the ironing board fabric? Hope this is clear. Thanks.

I put the shiny side toward the fabric backing. My way: Iron the fabric, measure and then lay upside down. Lay the insulbrite with shiny side down onto the fabric. Then I add 2 layers of warm and natural (or any cotton batting; my mom used layers of old sheets that worked just as well). Flip this over onto the top of the wooden tray. Stretch tight one side, then the other, stapling underneath as you go along.Complete the next two sides, then the corners. There are several tutorials online. It says which sides in the instructions but I never could see the difference between the two sides.

Our guild made a lot of these portable ironing stations. We used a layer of heavy duty aluminium foil on the table top, one layer of cotton batting, then cotton canvas as the cover, all stapled down underneath. Wet the canvas cover so it will shrink fit and be smooth and firm. The foil will keep all moisture from steam or starch out of the wood. I know you will love it, they are so handy.

I have to test it out. place it the way you want and put iron on it. if the heat doesn't stay where you want it, flip it over. it's hard for me to tell one side from the other. but testing does the trick.
