Interfacing vs stabelizer
 

What is the difference between interfacing & stabelizers? I'm taking a quilting class @ it says use stabelizer not interfacing .

it depends on what you're doing or stabilizing, interfacing is used for mostly clothes, sometimes bags, but it can be used to stabilize t-shirts when doing a t-shirt quilt, stabilizer is used mostly for embroidery, and appliques where you want to stabilize your stitches so your fabric doesn't pucker. Also there are so many different types, tear away cutaway, wash away, heavyweight, lightweight, you erally need to know what you are working on. they both kind of stabilize, but in different ways. Interfacing adds more body to a fabric, but you can also use fusible interfacing in applique if you want the needle turn look

better ask the teacher what he/she means to be sure you have the appropriate item. Don't guess or take words of others about what it can mean. We all have differing opinions.

Interfacing (whether fusible or non) is generally used to give a garment more body so that the fabrics lay or hang correctly. Stabilizer is generally used to help you stitch or embroider without puckering. I generally equate interfacing with garment sewing and stabilizers with embroidering, quilting and crafting. I suggest you have a discussion with the instructor ...she will be able to explain the differences.
