Invisafil Thread!
 

Ok I am dumb...I have invisafil thread I want to use but cannot find a starter thread on the roll..
I've already ruined one trying to get it started........Help...........thanks Rita

Try wrapping a piece of tape around and lift off gently. It should pull the starting thread out. You may have to press it on with your finger nail then pull, sometimes it take two or three tries but it works for me.

Sometimes mine gets stuck in the little plastic foot thingy, if you have one on it, just pull that off.

I have this problem all the time! Thanks for the tip about using tape. Next time I'll try that. Now what do you do when the beginning of the tape is stuck to the roll and you can't either find it or get it loose? (Please don't say you wrap your thread around it - I'll be caught in an endless loop!)

good tip!!!!

does the spool have a paper cover on each end? try lifting up that paper and looking for a tiny slit in the spool where the thread catches....you might find the end there

Dunster's, I fold the tape over so it can't stick. Wastes some tape, but saves my mind. At least I think so.

I had three new spools of thread I could not get the plastic wrapper off the spools. It was shrink wrapped so tightly I ruined one spool trying to get wrapper off!
I sent the spools to the headquarters of the thread company and asked them if they ever used their own products. I never thought I'd receive an answer but felt better about sending it anyway. About two months later I got a big box in the mail. It was a 60 pieces spool set of thread from the company! All shrink wrapped just as the ones I sent back. LOL DH figured out to twist the wrapper very hard to break it and then peel it off. I never could twist it that hard.

I have not seen a spool with shrink wrap on it, well, one, but it had a gold sliver that you pulled and it unzipped the wrap. What brand was it?
