invisi grip ?

how do you all use it? The instructions say to cover the whole ruler but the frugal side of me is thinking to just cover about 3-4 inches from the top and bottom of the rulers and leaving the in between without invisi grip will this work?

On most rulers I've covered the whole thing. But on my June Tailor Shape Cut, I just cut some narrow strips and put them every few inches between the slots and also on the solid areas above and below the slots. It is one of those "gadgets" that works well for me and is worth spending the money on. :)

depends on the ruler. some times the strips catch when you purposely are trying to slide down the fabric, and that can become annoying.

solid rulers I've completely covered- as instructed- I had one small ruler I thought I would use up some 'left over' invisgrip on doing it just top & bottom- it did not work well- the pieces curled, caught and the ruler did not lay flat. so, I removed the pieces and when I had a piece large enough I covered the ruler again. for my 'circle shape cutter' I do have pieces - that one seems to work out ok- maybe because it is not as (firm) as the solid rulers- so has some give, can still be flat. before 'committing' to only using pieces on all of your rulers you might want to just try it on one- & see how it goes. for me using it as instructed worked out best - I've had it on my 6" x 24" and my 12 1/2" square rulers for 8 years now.

thanks everyone I didn't think of the curling part makes sense so I'll cover the whole ruler

I used it when it first came out. cut it just a tad smaller than the ruler I want it on and it clings just like plastic wrap. works well enough. but I'd prefer dots of some sort better, maybe the true grip ones that are nice and thin.

I prefer the sandpaper dots.......cheaper too.

When I used it I did just like you and some rulers were not completely covered on the underside with the Invisigrip. No problems encountered for me.

I now use the sandpaper dots on my newer rulers when I want something to help me cut.

Quite a while ago, I put sandpaper dots on my rulers and it worked wonderful. I took double stick scotch tape and put it on the back side of sandpaper, then took a paper punch and punched out the dots and placed them on the rulers.

I cover the whole ruler..most of the time. Sometimes if I'm "short" on InviGrip, I'll cover all but the tiniest sliver ( 1/8- 1/4 inch). Frugal is good, but if I do something other than what the directions say, I can't moan about bad results. IMHO
