Irish Blessing
I am in the process of making a quilt for my niece and it is going to be an Irish quilt. One of our fine people here has a blessing on the bottom of her thread and it is beautiful and I wrote it down and darn if I didn't lose it. It was in Irish and I looked it up under the translation in Irish and it meant something like May you always have heat in your stove" and I wanted to use it for my name label. Whoever had that on the bottom of their thread could please send it to me, either PM or regular. I would appreciate it so very much. Thank you. Edie

Are you talking about, lang may yer lum reek? I thought that was Scottish for long may your chimney smoke.

You are probably thinking of Knitette. She is from Scotland and the saying is indeed Scottish.

Well, a fire in the stove certainly produces smoke out the chimney! I love the 'reek' especially since these days a wood stove is considered not just use of renewable energy source, but air pollution!
