Irish chain

I've made an single Irish Chain. Of course I only had enough fabric to ALMOST finish the top. I used only two fabrics, purple for my dark & beige for my light. Any ideas what color to introduce as my border as I can no longer get the fabric I used and the top needs to be about 8 inches bigger. So four inches on all sides. I am so done with this quilt.

Can you post a photo of the quilt?? What is the name of the fabric of your dark purple?? Maybe we can find you a little more out of our stash or online.

If you'd like to introduce a third color, green would work with purple and beige. Otherwise, I'd use darker tones of the colors you already have.

Try "in search of" here - someone might have a little bit to share.

I might go with a purple and beige print in 9 inch border to finish.

Agree with others' ideas here. Other options would be a neutral (white, black, grey, yellow, beige, ivory) or lighter/darker version of what you already have, but I bet someone here on the board has what you're looking for. My entire stash fits in 1 plastic tub, but I know some people here have rooms full of fabrics. :)

I would probably look for a small print blender fabric that had both your colors in it. It would help to see a photo.

Take the top with you to the fabric store, if you have nothing in your stash that works, and let the quilt tell you what works to blend it all together.

A print that compliments/incorporates, either modern or traditional would be my suggestion.

This is thinking out of the box a bit... but you might consider doing a little bit of applique in the beige squares, using a third print, then use that for your border.
For example, applique a Shamrock or Heart shape, etc. using a blended fabric of beige and purple, or add a complimentary green as your third color, or if your existing color is medium purple then a light lavender or deeper purple might work. Don't despair... if its frustrating you... lay it aside for a day then take a fresh look at. It will come together and you will probably like the new look better than your original plan. Can you post a picture of it?
