One of my favorite flowers. If given a choice between iris and orchid, I would pick iris. They have such a fragile will'o the wisp smell too, you almost wonder if you imagined it.

I would try replanting them in "rich" soil. The soil gets depleted of nutrients with the years. If you can't do that, start them on a liquid fertilizer. Miracle Grow can help. Osmocote is another good one... but it takes longer as it is not in liquid form.
