Which iron to buy?

Im looking at buying a small iron just for quilting. I was originally going to get a Clover one but lots of reviews have said that they are easy to burn yourself in and that a travel iron is as effective. What sort of iron do you use?

I bought a Eureka Voyage travel iron on Amazon and love it. I'd buy it again if I needed another!

I'm going to sound like a nut job but...I have three irons and each one has a specific use. One is a Panasonic cordless that I use with and without steam for small seams when I need less weight. One is a Shark that I use exclusively with steam and the last is a Rowenta that has never seen a drop of water. I love all three and If I had to buy another small iron I'd jump at another Panasonic Cordless.

Yes super easy to burn yourself but it is good at what is does

i have a big box iron that works great, I've accidentally dropped it twice on my hard floor and no issues, I use a separate spray bottle.

I use the mini Clover for appliqué and mini quilts...and yes, it can get hot but there are temp settings. I have a Rowenta for home quilting use....and then for travel, I use the Clover Wedge...works like a pro...no issues.

I strongly dislike that Clover iron. I purchased the Dritz Petite Press and love it. It has 4 heat settings, an adjustable head, and a built-in stand.

I despise the Clover mini iron; I'm so glad I borrowed one before buying. Much too easy to burn yourself, or accidentally knock off the table.

I have an iron like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-Com...ords=mini+iron. It works really well.

Thanks everyone. As I can be quite clumsy and our cat often likes to 'investigate' I think I will give the clover iron a miss and look for a suitable travel iron

STeamFast travel iron is nice! You can use it as a steam iron if preferred.

Which Clover iron? I have the Clover small skinny one and the Clover Wedge iron. The Wedge iron is a travel size, looks like a regular iron. I take the Wedge iron to classes. Works great.

My cordless Panasonic is my best friend forever. It's amazing how easy it is to iron without that darn cord! I absolutely love it!

I have several of the Rowenta travel iron from years ago with the long handle. I purchased two...just had a feeling they would not be around in the future....I was right. haven't seen it in years. Sharon Schamber used it exclusively and recommend it in a class I took from her, she kept it at her side while sewing...turned in on its side when not in use. it had steam if you wanted, but I used it with no steam...really hot iron and perfect for travel, classes, and beside my machine. Not why they stopped making them.....love the long handle....does anyone else have one?

I recently purchased a Panasonic cordless iron and love it! I have hand issues and this iron is fantastic. It is small, light, has great steam. Since I have hand issues, I have found it to be easier on my wrists. You just put it flat on the base, no turning your wrist to stand it up. It's awesome!

I sometimes use a Hobbico. I saw Eleanor Burns using one on her show and bought one. Normally, I just take my Rowenta to class.

Since there are a bazillion irons out there all I am going to say is that I won't buy an expensive one. I did that once and will not again!

Is this the Rowenta travel iron you were talking about? I have been considering it, but it seems too expensive. I don't mind the cost if it really works well.
