Iron on interfacing
I have made a couple of t-shirt quilts and used the iron on interfacing/stabilizer on the back of the t-shirts and have had trouble getting it to stick. I followed the directions and spent a whole lot of time working with it. I tried a coup;e of different kinds and weights but had trouble with both. Does anyone have any hints or have you had this problem? Thanks

Did you wash the T shirts and use fabric softener? Sometimes the fusibles won't stick if there is fabric softener in the fabric.
I use Pellon SF101 with good results. http://www.shoppellon.com/products/8...hape-flex.aspx |
My friend Cindi has made several. She wrote a fabulous tutorial for beginners. In it, she says wash the shirts and do not use fabric softener. She uses Pellon 906F and pre-shrinks it before using. She also has very specific instructions for how to attach the interfacing so it doesn't detach. I'll PM you.

Check the instructions that comes with your interfacing too. It will tell you the heat setting to use on your iron.

Also don't use a dryer sheet or bar when drying the shirts.

Do be sure to check the instructions on your interfacing. I use French Fuse a lot and it is put on with steam, I noticed that some I had gotten must have been older, stored in heat - something because it was had to get to stick. I use a press cloth with it and ended up having to wet and ring out the press cloth to get enough moisture (steam just wasn't enough) to get it to stick well. Even though your instructions might say 10 seconds, you should probably try a piece on scrap t-shirt fabric using different times until you get the result you want.

I make a LOT of t-shirt quilts. I use Pellon 906F. I wash the t-shirts, but do not use fabric softner. The directions on 906F, if i'm not mistaken, instruct you to use a damp pressing cloth to press the 906F onto the back of the t-shirt. Work's every time for me. Give it a try! Good luck!
