Iron quilt block pieces
When ironing your quilt block pieces, Do you use steam or not?
I use steam but I wash & dry all my fabric so it's not going to shrink any more.
I generally press them dry, but then hit the steam button to get the seam flat. Burn myself too much with steam just "on"
I use steam and make sure only to "press" (not "iron") so as not to stretch the fabric. (Like PaperPrincess, I pre-wash and dry all my fabric.)
Depends on the day :D
I sometimes use steam, sometimes spritz with water and sometimes iron dry. It all depends on how the fabric is behaving. |
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I like to give the back a squirt of starch before pressing, it really helps to flatten those seams and stay flat, then I don't need steam.
I iron with steam before cutting, iron dry while under construction.
iron with steam unless I've got bias edges, then I either use starch or best press.
I use a lot of starch in my fabrics before I cut so I iron dry when assembling the blocks so the stiffness stays there.
I use steam, using liquid starch with water in my plastic spray bottle & keep close to iron on pressing board...
