Ironed fusible web wrong side down to ironing board! help!

Any tips on removing fusible web that I ironed onto my ironing board on accident? Thank you!

frarose 12-04-2011 09:45 AM

oops. Sounds like a disaster to me.

Welcome to the club! :-) I now use a small towel or nice 'rag' on my ironing board when using fusible.

New ironing bd. Cover so sorry

That fusible is permanent.

CorgiNole 12-04-2011 10:31 AM

According to eHow, it is possible to remove (http://www.ehow.com/how_5098992_remove-fusible.html). And I have accidentally removed it from an applique piece in the past.

Cheers, K

Ironing board covers are inexpensive. It's just one of those things you toss and forget it ever happened. I saw the name brand Bonash silver self adhering heat reflecting ironing board cover in General Dollar store for $12. I know I paid about twice three times that at a quilt show some years ago. It's a great ironing board cover. It fits all sizes.

Yes, I think a new ironing board cover is the answer. Even if you got it up it would not be the same on the cover. The only thing that might work is to reheat it and pull immediately. Get you a teflon sheet to use for fuseable webbings. Doesn't stick to them.

Fuse a piece of fabric to the up-side of it or get a new cover. Much less headache than trying to get it totally off and not have it haunt you later.

Even if you manage to get most of it off it'll stick to your iron and anything else you iron. Just get a new cover or make a new cover.

You should cover it up or replace it. You can just use a piece of fabric with fusible on it and cover that spot.

I just finished a tee shirt quilt, and had to fuse very square. Usually I pretest on just a small corner to see which side is the right side. Good Luck.

Fuse some fabric to your ironing board, or make a new cover.

Sewflower 12-04-2011 06:58 PM

Sorry but I think all you can do is buy a new cover.

KerryK 12-04-2011 06:59 PM

There are some really nice ironing board covers out there!

Divokittysmom 12-04-2011 07:19 PM

Been there - done that. Covered it up for awhile eventually replaced the cover.

Time to get a new cover, and while you're at the store, pick up a roll of parchment paper. You put it under your project when you're using fusible, saves a LOT of headaches fairly inexpensively.
