Mattress ticking, with old wool Army blankets under that. The stripes come in handy!

cotton duck for the cover, old mattress pad under it.

I have a sticky back foam lined silver cover. I covered a big board with it. I'm a stickler for the silver covers, don't care for fabric covers. I picked mine up while in Paducah at the show.
It's called Bo-Nash Iron Slide 2000. It's perfect for a big board. |
I just made a new ironing board and covered it with utility muslin I got at JoAnns. Then made a cover from the silver ironing board fabric. The utility muslin is really nice and heavy.

I use a couple layers of flannel and then top it with a heavy cotton gingham, the squares and lines help me to get the iron in folds straight.
