It doesn't show what works great, but I have one of those table tops, took the legs off it, sits right by my machine complete with iron that shuts itself off. I am forgetful. I love the way its set up. Works for me.

I use a tv tray that is covered with batting and the silver ironing board cover stuff. Works great and doesn't take up much space. And I can take in on retreats too!

At a recent mtg saw this & it works great! Purchase a wooden
tv Tray at Walmart for $9.00 or less, cover it with batting and
a piece of fabric. Staple it tightly to the back and WaHoo!! an
ironing board small and just the right height for the side of your
machine. Folds flat for storage and when the cover gets dirty
easy to pull off and redo.

great idea. I just pull my ironing board close to my sewing cabinet, its a little higher than sitting level but it works for me.

I've been meaning to do just that!! Only I was going to have DH cut a piece of wood to just sit on the tray. But your suggestions seems better, because I would probably knock the other board off the tray, I'm sure!

does your ironing board not raise up and down? Mine is adjustable so I can put it level with my sewing or cutting area.

Well that would be too easy now wouldn't it. I think I have ADD so sometimes I will jump up and iron and sometimes I sit and spin around to iron. At any rate sitting still has always been an issue :-)

Yeah, I can't sit still long but when I sit and iron it has to be small pieces but when it's a whole quilt back I tend to have to stand and raise the ironning board.
