I made my dd a turning twenty quilt for her 28th BD. It was the first quilt she had seen that I had machine quilted. She received it yesterday. She called and left a message. "Mom, I got my package. I love everything. But, I really, really love my quilt. My friends were over and they were oohing and ahhing. I really love it. Call me back." Ok, I admit it, I am already teary eyed. I call and the first thing she says is how awesome the quilt is. She tells me her friends all want to buy one(not happening). She says that she got out the other two quilts that she has. (8th and 16th Birthdays) She is so excited I am now crying. Mainly because she loved it so much and because she is just too far away. (NYC) Then she totally cracks me up. "You know Mom, you have really gotten better".
After 20 years, I would hope so.

I'm so glad you shared this with us. We always truly hope our quilts, that have been made with love and attention, will be appreciated. Hers will be totally loved and cherished. BTW, the quilt, and especially your daughter, are beautiful.

Beautiful quilt for a beautiful girl! Love the colors!!

mcdaniel023 08-08-2009 03:33 AM

Thanks everyone. I know I am prejudced but my daughter is a truly beautiful person. I knew even when she was young she would be giving her life to those in need. After surviving cancer in college, she decided to leave her small midwestern life and move to the big city to teach in the Bronx. "They needed her." I am truly proud of the person she is and what she gives to those around her.
I feel that with our quilts we give those we love hugs whenever they use them.

What a Beautiful daughter you have and that quilt is awesome , I can see why she is so proud of it , made a tear come to my eyes to

hereca622 08-14-2009 10:05 AM

Love the fabric, love to make that turning 20 pattern. Smart and beautiful DD. Praise and appreciation equals more quilts. The first time that my DGD (1 year old) realized that the quilt I spread on the floor was hers, she giggled and danced on it. I could not have received a greater wordless compliment.

Mousie 08-14-2009 10:12 AM

just  awesome! :D

kd124 08-15-2009 07:23 PM

That is so touching. It is great to know they will be loved and used, isn't it? Beautiful quilt and daughter. I love those colors.
