I am very new to quilting & having "issues" w/making my blocks consistant even w/a ruler.
Now I am thinking maybe purchasing block templates may be a better idea.
Looking for variety of sizes.

Accurate cutting and quarter inch seams are a must. A good quarter inch foot is nessasary, also squareing up rulers help me. Good luck.

what is a squareing up ruler,newbie here.

A squaring up ruler is a square ruler the size of the finished block you are making. This will show you the quarter lines,square lines and most important the square block. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else can explain it better or maybe you can get the idea from this. Good luck and don't forget to post the finished picture of your quilt.

Here is a great assortment of different sized rulers. You do not have to buy one of each size. I have one that is a 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" to make a finished size block of 12". I also have smaller ones and rectangular ones. I can use almost any size to square up a block, but it is best to use one that is larger that you need rather than smaller. As long as the corners have 90 degree angles, you will be fine. :-)

I should have asked; when you say ruler are you talking about a school room ruler, or an actual acrylic rule?
