ISO Free Pattern for 20 - 26 Inch Quilt Block

I've joined a Round Robin, but am having trouble finding a large quilt block pattern. The block needs to be 20 to 26 inches.

Do any of you know of any free patterns? I googled, but didn't have much luck.

Thanks so much,
Michelle

Find a block you like and draw it out for the size you want.

You may want to check Quilters Cache you can find blocks by size for free they have some that are 20" and larger tnder 16" + block.Carol Doak has a free paper piecing pattern Called Rays of Hope with the boarder measues 30" but the border could be made smaller it could work if you like paper piecing. Good luck. Post a picture when you decide what you are going to make love seeing the intial start and then what it evolves too .:)

Even if you pick something a bit too small, what abot putting it on point and adding your own setting triangles to make it bigger

Carpenters wheel works for this.

The Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a You Tube video for a Big Star block that finishes at 25". It is very nice looking and easy too.

I was actually looking for the same thing yesterday. Settled on a Dresdan Plate for my dining room table. I used the whole length of the template which is 8". So, 18" plate plus background, I'm standing at 21" without borders right now. Fun to make also.

This is what I was just going to suggest! I just made two blocks right before Christmas from different fabrics and they became table toppers. It is a very fun block and I will do more!!!!

I made the Big Star Quilt, and it's my favorite quilt yet! I blogged about it here:

I skipped the borders and did a 3x3 layout instead of 3x4. That would have been too narrow without the borders. I used the Marmalade line. This was a Christmas present for my mom.

Michelle - There are no rules generally on this other than size. There is no reason you could not make 4 12" blocks and put them together to form a 24" center. Or, as someone else stated - make a large block (say 12" on point would give you a center of almost 17" block - then add a border of maybe 2" each side would get you to 21"). That being said ... are you looking for a star? or are you looking for something else? Do you have a certain block in mind? EQ can scale any block up to 48" .
