I would like to find a source for 505 adhesive spray that is reasonable. I have been searching on line for a source that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the spray and postage. I prefer the 17oz can. Thanks

My friend and I just went in together and bought a case off eBay. $159.99 with free shipping. I think it broke down to just $13.33 a can. That's for 12 of them.

Yeah .. that is a bit pricey. But some quilters can't live without it. Me .... I've never tried it.

I use it for machine embroidery and monograming. It holds my fabric great and doesn't leave a sticky residue on the finished item, without having to hoop the item I'm embroidering on. No hoop ring.....no sticky mess. To me, it is worth it, whereas if I buy it locally, the same can is $27.00 each.

Last can I bought was thru walmart. ordered online and had shipped to my local store, no shipping cost. Am not that impressed with 505, don't think I will buy again, still like Dritz, especially its price point, and I also buy that at Walmart in a very large can, I think I paid $5-$8 a can.

It's the same manufacturer - maybe they've changed their can? Or maybe it's because it's in the larger size?

watterstide 10-13-2011 08:02 AM

maybe..walmarts has the small 8 ounce can you can order on line for pickup.

Oops, Krafty beat me to it! Reminds me, almost time to get more.

I got mine from Sew For Less at $13.49 each for 17oz cans.
Shipping was $14.19 for 2 cans!! But still cheaper from the local stores.

It's in a red can and seems to be from France (has different languages on the labelling)but is the genuine article

Jhittle has a 6 pack for $58.50 for the 8 oz cans, plus shipping of 7.70, total was $65.20.

This makes each can $10.86 each.

Last January, JoAnns had a sale 50% off of notions. (on-line) They just so happened to have the 505 spray on sale 50% off as well. I bought 12 cans of it. Came out to about 6-7 a can. Check JoAnns on-line occasionally and look for it!!

I have tried other sprays, thought they were ok, but nothing beats 505, in my opinion.

Gramily 10-14-2011 07:53 AM

Thank you, thank you every one. I had tried a couple of the slices but some I didn't think of. With all the suggestions I will find 505 for the price I am willing to pay. Of all the sprays I have tried, 505 remains the best and my favorite. I too have wondered what the difference is between the red can and the bluish one. I think the difference is the red one comes from France. Thanks again.
