Which items sell the best at craft fairs?

Hi all.

I'm going to make some items for our local humane society to sell at a craft fair.

If any of you have made items to sell, which items sell the best?

Fabric boxes?
Placemats? (how many in a set?)
Table runners? (how long?)

Thanks for any help! :)

How about doing pet themed items? Zip bags for treats, collars made with fun fabric strips stitched to the webbing, pet throws to protect furniture or car upholstery, stuff like that?

I just finished a craft fair last Saturday - I had the most luck with potholders and zip pouches. Every time I participate - its always something different that sells - Its really a guessing game. I think you want stuff that is fairly inexpensive.

The bandanas that slide over a pet's collar work up pretty fast and I imagine would sell well. How about a treat pouch with a belt loop for when training a dog?

how about something for a CAT
they never have stuff for , us cat owners. my boy kitty that stepped on the rainbow. he would wear bandanas
don't even think of a bow. my kitty zoey loves necklaces, she wears real pearls. and has a scrunchie for every holiday.
she loves them.a box for cat toys. cover containers for treats. covers for doggie poopie bags.

I make blankets for pets from two pieces of flannel. They love them. My cat actually goes into the dog crate to sleep on one of them. Use flannel pieces that are pet themed - cats or a particular breed of dog are always popular. You can use the same style for babies - just use bright animal, zoo, safari patterns.

Oh and catnip blankets are good for cat lovers. You make the blanket with two pieces of flannel just put a little catnip in the middle. You should be able to find instructions for this somewhere on the Internet. You might consider making a zipper or velcro opening so that you can replace the catnip if you need to wash the blanket. However, I've washed my cat's and the nip is still there and he can still smell it.

You might also try baby bibs with a cat or a specific breed of dog appliqued on it.

How about little mice filled with cat-nip? My girlfriends sells tons of them

I think the catnip blanket is an awesome idea!! We have 3 kitties and I would buy one for them. How about small fabric boxes with a treat or two in them? Would be a nice gift to give to pet owners on your Christmas gift list.

Fleece dog toys are really simple (shaped as hearts, dog bones, etc). Stuff them with polyester pillow fill or just about anything. I add squeakers to mine and the dogs love them. They're really difficult to destroy. Our dogs haven't even made a hole in them over a few years and they play tug of war, etc. Plus, you can throw them in the house and they don't damage walls or knock things over : )
