It's Been a while.
Hi everyone, its been some time since I been on here. But its been busy lol. Now my husband has given me a challenge (lol). He says if I use my scraps up pretty much then I can remodel my sewing room and get material.
So I need help ideas please. Any idea any pattern. Thanks and have a great day |
Look at the latest mystery quilt...it's scrappy and uses a lot of scraps.
There will be another scrappy mystery starting in a week too. Depends on how many scraps you have and the sizes of them. If you have teeny size scraps, you could be in trouble! Sounds like a great deal and wonderful motivator to whip out some tops...charity or family...get'r done Judy! |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSBlVF_r9t8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5mF-IMvx2o I googled quilting with scraps and the above is just a few of videos relating to using scraps. I use scraps for foundation paper piecing as well as making hexies. Hope this gives you some ideas to use up those scraps. |
Go through Bonnie Hunter's free patterns on her site www.quiltville.blogspot.ca Many of her patterns can be used for scrap quilts.

Try www.quiltville.com, www.quilterscache.com, www.allpeoplequilt.com, www.quiltmaker.com, www.fatcatpatterns.com, the list goes on! Lots out there.
You could do scrappy pineapple blocks, 4-patch and 9-patch blocks, even crumb blocks with your smallest pieces. Happy stitching! |
Cut it up and use as stuffing for some pillows or for packaging. Hehe

What about a sale?

I have just finished 48 string blocks... used up quite a bit of 1 1/2 to 3 inch strips and pieces, quick & fun

There are many quilts out there that use scraps. These ladies will surely come up with many suggestions. My favorite is a spider web or a scrappy log cabin.

Check out http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ppy+quilt+show on our own board. That should give you dozens of ideas as well as access to the people who made the quilts. Pour yourself a BIG cup of coffee and enjoy!

The possibilities are endless. I make up a bunch of ideas making scrappy quilts. The string quilts use a lot and their are lots of books on them. Almost impossible to use up all the scraps. I think they multiply.

String quilts use a lot fast. I use foundation blocks of ugly fabric or muslin & that uses even more fabric. Plus, I don't have to use a batting; I just call them "summer quilts". My guild has a "free" table where people bring stuff they don't want/can't use & whoever wants it can take it for free. You can stuff scraps in clear plastic bags & probably a lot will just "go away". Everybody's happy & the remodeling can start sooner rather than later. Happy quilting!

These girls all have great ideas for you. I just want to say what a lucky lady you are to have a hubby who will remodel a room to your liking! I'm sure all the fun of using up your fabric and getting a quilting room that meets your needs will be wonderful for you! I hope you enjoy the whole process :)

Have fun and "git 'er done!"

You could do a Boxed Squares. It just takes 2 1/2 inch squares and 2 1/2 x 6 1/2 rectangles. They are really gorgeous with lots of color.
