IT's FINISHED

Finally at 10:55 p.m. December 15 , 2011 the last stitch was made in the quilt I started in January 1992. Not quite 19
years but close :D...
I will take pictures and post later... my fingers are so sore but I hand stitched the binding down.
Needless to say, I'm very proud of this quilt... it's not perfect but it's mine :D and I did all the work except quilting it and Nancy (aka Chewboo) did that. I tried hand quilting but the stitches were too large and messy looking. I figured
it's better to machine quilt and have usable quilts than to continue dreaming of hand quilting and be cold :D...

Congrats on your accomplishment, it must feel terrific. Look forward to seeing some pictures soon.
Have you got any new projects on the horizon. I have one quilt started and the fabric for another, you have inspired me to get back to my sewing machine.
Happy holidaysé

Just do a little at a time... it will get completed... I finished the top in 1999 but didn't get it sandwiched till 2006 and then
this year, Chewboo quilted it for me :D...

It looks as if you posted some pictures, but I can't see them. Do I need to do something else in order to see them or did you not post any?

I was looking for pictures and got a group of red x's, anyone else have that problem?

chuckbere15 12-18-2011 01:23 AM

Congratulation!

Rose L 12-18-2011 03:39 AM

Great, great job! Congratulations!! I have one that I started in 1981. It only needs binding and I don't even mind doing binding. I just never seem to think about it when it's convenient to pull it out and get it finished. I signed up for the UFO Challenge for 2012 and I am going to make it a priority to finish that one first!!

duckydo 12-18-2011 02:47 PM

I finishe one that took over 20 years, it is a good feeling. It was paperpieced and I just kept putting it up and ignoring it. Finally I got it out and decided I was not doing anything else until it was done. I brought it to TX with me and am going to enter in in the Rio Grande Quilt Show. Not perfect either but it was lots of work. I doubt it wins a ribbon, but it is very rewarding to see your work in a show.
