It's nice to come home to a surprise

Back to work today after a week off and I had a package waiting for me. (I have things delivered to the office so they don't sit on the porch waiting for me or tempting someone else.) I remembered ordering the Farmer's Wife CD for EQ6 from Quilt In a Day. But it was a big package and I had forgotten what else I ordered. Oh yeah, it was two scrap bags of batik fabrics. Each bag contained one pound of scraps, approx. 3 yards of fabric. Most of the scraps were fat eighth size, with a couple of fat quarter or larger. There were also strips varying in size from one inch to about 3 inches. What a happy surprise. I'm very pleased with the selection. The cost was $12 per bag.

WOW - sounds great. Surprises are always fun.

I look forward to packages coming to my house so I order a lot of them. LOL. I've been ordering more of my grocery basics online this last year for six months at a time and all my clothes and shoes from one brand. Sure saves money to order more fabric packages!

I love seeing a package waiting for me at my front door when I get home. Right now I'm waiting for a kit from McCall's and I'm dying to see it when it arrives. The only thing I look forward to seeing more when I get home is my dog. :)

NICE! I love scrape bags.

BellaBoo - did you make the quilt in your avatar? Is this your own design or what would the pattern name be?
Thanks!

I haven't ever seen these for sale but I love the idea. What a surprise.

The flag quilt is a very old design made from tumbler blocks sewn in rows in the flag colors. No pattern needed other then a template for the tumbler shape. I used the 6 1/2" tumbler Go die.

I've ask before but no answer, where do you order the scrap bags? Could you Private Message me with the information so I don't miss it on this page, which I must be doing. thanks glad you are all better and could get back to work.

I just received my 12# Grab Bag from Fat Quarters Shop and what a delight to go through. There were no less than 112 pieces of fabric in it and tallyed about 23 yards Biggest piece was 25 inches, some 17 to 19 inch pcs., and lots from 15 down to 2 (but not very many of the smaller ones). Of course each bag differs as I note a pic from another post of her pcs. Must be ends of when they put kits together and such because I was able to put many coordinating pieces together that will make a darling scrap quilt. I measured each piece, marked with an address label, and sorted. So much fun to 'pet' the fabric no matter the size.

That's Great! There' nothing like a wonderful surprise! Enjoy!

I love scrap bags. My LQS has a basket where you can fill up a bag for $6, but there's nothing like opening a packing and getting the surprise of finding out what's inside!

If I recall, Keepsake Quilting also has scrap bags. I haven't ordered any (yet!), but seeing the ads in the Keepsake catalog, each bag contains around 3 yards of scraps of varying widths. Have fun with your surprises!

That sounds like a fun way to get fabric for a scrappy quilt!

My advice...you write HER a PM first. Sometimes those who start a thread read it a lot the first day or two but then don't get back to it for a while and it puts the responsibility on her to answer.
