I use to hate binding and when anything I entered in the fair always came back saying binding need improvements then finally I took a class from Cody Mazaron author of a fine finish now bindings are my favorite part and I can also win ribbons

Have you seen the binding thingy? I am not sure what the real name is. Here it is.

I sew to the back and machine stitch to the front. I used to be scared to try it but after I practiced on scraps the same thickness of the project I found out it was not so bad. I just finished a baby quilt that way and after I washed it, it looked just fine. Try out different methods on some scraps.

Me too! I've got a table runner that's been ready to bind for at least 3 months & somehow just can't force myself to get to it.

I love to bind quilts...probably because I love hand applique and making small stitches. I even do bindings for the public. It is all part of the process of quiltmaking.

Anyone with me?

Definitely. I really hate all hand work. I realize that it must be done, but IT is my least favorite thing about quilting. I will often make more than one top before I do a binding on a quilt, because I dislike it so.

I think I love to do bindings, because I, too, love to do handwork. It's also such a good feeling...when that's done, IT'S DONE!!! Yeah!!

I like the hand work, as well as the finished look of it. I just volunteered to do the binding on the quilt of valor our group is doing. It is something I can take with me, or sit and watch a dvd while sewing it.
