I am going to have to use my stash and stay out of the fabric stores for about a year! I decided to see what is available in lightweight, portable machines for the quilting class I joined. I went into the store where I bought my BabyLock Espire 7 years ago (to look, mind you) and when I left I had signed the bill for a brand new BabyLock Espire Dream Quilter's Series. I pick it up next Tuesday. I am getting it for $1200 off. The saleslady kept talking to the owner and by the time we were finished, I also got the A-Line machine straight across trade for my original Espire. Some days it does pay to get out of bed!

Congrats! Don't forget pics!

Aw, lucky you! Congrats!
|
I am contemplating buying a lightweight machine to take to sit & stitch. do you know how much your Aspire weighs?
Have fun creating! |
Congrats :D

I don't have trouble with my conscience bothering me when buying quilting items. in 1982 I quit smoking so my money goes to fabric instead of cigarettes!!!!
also, TV used to be no cost entertainment. Now the cable bill is $75 every month. I DON'T watch it. DH does, so that is another $75 that I could spend monthly for my entertainment! |
Awesome!! I've used the Espire at our Project Linus get-togethers. That's a wonderful machine. My quilting buddy has one on lay-away. I have the Esante which is basically the same machine but with embroidery. The Espire has some features mine doesn't have -- like the auto-presser foot lifter....
Enjoy your new toy !!! |
How fun! Something new! Enjoy your new machine.
|
I bought an Espire in October. Just love it. I have an Elna as well. Both are in the quilter's series.

Have fun creating! The Espire is not a light weight machine. Weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 pounds. I would not recommend it as a class machine. Check out the Decorators Choice or Quilters Choice. I think they run around $800-1,000. Much less than the Espire and weigh less. |
Before I upgraded to the Esante, I had the Quilter's Choice. I was perfectly happy with this machine but wanted to be able to embroider which is why I upgraded. I had to turn it in because I couldn't afford to simply buy a second machine.
Check the Babylock website for specs and weights. The QC couldn't weigh more than about 15 lbs. The only differences between the Decorator's Choice and Quilter's Choice are the types of stitches. Obviously, the QC is more geared toward us quilters.

Look at some of the Janomes. My Janome AQS2009 weighs 12 pounds. I under stand Brother also has a light weight machine. Both are good.
|
Well done Lindy - that's awesome.

congrats on your new toy. God bless. Penny

TheJanome AQS2009 would be great for teaching kids to sew as you can adjust the maximum speed it will sew. Great for when you want real control for intricate projects too.

Congrats, just do not forget pics!!
