I let the seams go the way they wanted to. I found that pressing the 9 patch seam back on itself added more bulk. You will get bulk at the tips of the fitting triangles and there, I just pressed them really hard and they laid down better. I found it is a quilt that does its on thing where the directions of the seams want to go. I just pressed it and let them go. I am hand quilting it now but it is a slow process. I hope that helps.
