Jandt machine quilting frame

Has anyone heard of Jandt frames? I saw one at a yard sale this past wkend that was purchased in 2008 and never used. The owner states that it can be set up at 5ft or 10ft. I can not find anything about it on an internet search. It comes with a Janome 1600 pro series and found info on that. Can't figure if it is a long arm or short arm or if it is a model that will be very hard to find parts for. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Janome 1600 has 9 inches of throat space so it's not a long arm. I think you need at least 18" to be considered a long arm.
Can't help with the frame, though, sorry-never heard of it

Sounds like a starter setup, which is fine if the price is right. Is this the sewing machine?

I tried out a Janome 1600 on an EasyQuilt frame at a quilt show and it was fun to use. My guess is the Jandt is a frame that just didn't last in the marketplace. It might have some flaws that make it less than ideal to use, but it still could be fun. Setups like this are a good place to start if you think you want to get into longarm quilting. It would be considered a shortarm setup (midarms start around 13" of harp space, longarms around 18" of harp space). The Janome 1600 is good for a frame setup because it does a lot of stitches per minute compared to regular domestic machines.

What price is asked for the combo? At a yard sale I would basically want to get the machine for half-price and the frame thrown in (since so little is known about it). I'm thinking $500 or less for both would be a good deal as long as you are able to try out the machine and make sure it's working well.

Did you end up buying then frame...I just got one and have figured everything else out but how to load the top of the quilt on the uptake bar... Any help?

I have a long arm and I don't load the quilt top on a bar. I load the backing on and just float the batting and top. I have had good luck doing this so far alot of quilters float the quilt.
